Open-Enrollment Charter Schools
The board approved three new open-enrollment charter schools in three locations. Following are the results:
Exalt Academy of Pine Bluff in Pine Bluff, Arkansas – Board member Brenda Gullett made a motion to deny this application. With a 5-2 vote, the motion carried and the charter was denied.
KidSmart Cultural Arts Charter in Little Rock, Arkansas – Board member Samuel Ledbetter motioned to deny the application. The motion passed with a unanimous vote.
America’s Charter School in Lincoln, Arkansas – The board moved to table the motion of charter approval until issues have been resolved between the state and the applicant.
Northwest Arkansas Classical Academy in Bentonville, Arkansas – Dr. Jay Barth made a motion to approve the charter, which the board approved unanimously.
Premier High School of Little Rock in Little Rock, Arkansas – A motion was made and the board approved the charter with a 6-1 vote.
Quest Middle School of Pine Bluff in Pine Bluff, Arkansas – The board also voted to approve this charter.
