ADE Sponsors Teacher Recruitment Event
LITTLE ROCK – Encouraging highly motivated and energetic individuals to consider a career in the teaching profession is the focus of a special event sponsored by the Arkansas Department of Education. Becoming an Arkansas Teacher will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, November 3, 2012, at the Holiday Inn-Airport, 3201 Bankhead Drive, Little Rock.
“This is a unique opportunity for anyone interested in becoming a public school teacher in Arkansas,” said teacher recruiter Camille Sterrett. “Whether you are a high school or college student or if you are interested in changing careers, you can learn more about teaching by attending this event.”
Participants will receive information about financial aid; learn more about the stateʼs Non-Traditional Licensure Program; and visit with representatives from teacher education programs from several Arkansas institutions of higher education.
“Itʼs an exciting time to become a public school teacher in Arkansas,” said Commissioner of Education Dr. Tom Kimbrell. “We have more technology in our classrooms, more resources focused on student achievement and a support system in place for new teachers.”
The event is free, but participants are asked to register at www.TeachArkansas.org or call 501-683-1088.
