Cross County Elementary Technology Academy Charter

Cross County requested to waive the class size standards in the Cross County Elementary Technology Academy Charter School.

Dr. Matt McClure, Cross County Supreintendent, addressed the board about a problem, but a problem that’s good to have.  ”We hope this will be a short term fix to a long term problem,” Dr. McClure said.

McClure stated that Cross County is anticipating and encountering growth.  Dr. McClure said, “We think we have the mechanisms in place to teach kids.” He stated that new students are coming due to the educational offerings of the district.

Since 2009, the district has added an elementary school and brought in portables to accomadate student growth.

Board member Brenda Gullett encouraged McClure to set parameters on how many students and how long the class size would be increased at the school.

The board moved to grant a waiver for two years, to place a maximum of 5 additional children per class to accommodate growth. The motion passed with a unanimous vote.
