Consideration of Committee Recommendations for Textbook Adoptions
A representative of Carnegie Learning requested State Board of Education approval for Carnegie’s 6-8 mathematics textbooks and instructional materials, which, if approved, would be included on state’s recommended textbook adoption list. Carnegie’s bid for high school math textbooks and materials was approved by the textbook selection committee earlier this year.
Thomas Coy, ADE mathematics curriculum specialist, asked the Board to honor committee’s decision. A textbook adoption committee, comprised of teachers, was formed in May and developed criteria to score various bids for textbook companies.
A motion was made to accept the list as proposed by the ADE and to reject the appeal by Carnegie Learning. The Board approved the motion.
