January proclaimed school board month
The SBE approved a resolution naming January, 2012, as Arkansas School Board Member Recognition Month.
SBE Chairman Dr. Ben Mays, a former member of the Clinton school board, compared being on the SBE to dropping bombs and serving on local boards as fighting in the infantry.
Dan Farley executive director of the Arkansas School Boards Association said it was worthwhile to have a month to recognize the hard work by school board members.
