Youth Suicide Prevention contest deadline extended

Because of recent inclement weather, Attorney General Dustin McDaniel has announced that the deadline for entries for the 2011 Youth Suicide Prevention PSA contest and the Youth Suicide Prevention poetry contest has been extended from Feb. 14 to Feb. 22.

Students in all Arkansas public and private schools, as well as home-schooled students, are eligible to enter. Prizes will be awarded in two divisions: Grades 6 through 9 and Grades 10 through 12.

Winners in both the public service announcement and poetry contests will be awarded cash prizes and trophies during a ceremony in April. In addition, the two Arkansas schools with the highest percentage of student participation in the contests will earn $500 prizes. Entries must be postmarked or submitted to the Attorney General’s Office by Feb. 22. Poetry contest entries may also be submitted via the Internet at www.arkansasag.gov/poetry_submission_form.html.

For more information, visit the Attorney General’s Web site at www.arkansasag.gov, or call (501) 682-1020 or (800) 448-3014.
