High school grad rate improving in U.S.
Sam Dillon wrote in the New York Times that the nation’s high school graduation rate may have hit its low and be on the rise again. He cites a report from America’s Promise Alliance called “Building a Grad Nation,” which shows a jump in the national graduation rate from 72 percent in 2001 to 75 percent in 2008, and a decline in high schools deemed “dropout factories” from 2,000 in 2002 to 1,750 in 2008.
